Texcraft Puff Base

Texcraft Puff Base

Texcraft Puff Base

The Texcraft Puff Base is a semi-opaque ink/paste designed to create raised, embossed (“puff”) effects on garments using screen-printing techniques. It can be tinted with pigment concentrate, printed through mesh, and then heat-expanded (e.g., via iron or hair-dryer) to create the raised texture. The product is PVC- and phthalate-free, heavy-metal-free, APEO-free and formaldehyde-free, reflecting modern textile safety standards.

Benefits

  • Adds dramatic tactile dimension to textile prints, increasing perceived value and design impact.
  • Compatible with modern safety standards (PVC-free etc) while delivering special-effect finish.
  • Ideal for design-forward brands, streetwear, team-wear, or pieces where texture matters.
  • Supports both artisan and production workflows thanks to size options.
  • Enables makers to diversify print offering with puff effect without switching to plastisol systems.

Perfect For:

  • Raised effect prints on t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies or branding apparel for impact.
  • Texture-rich textile designs in artwear, stage costumes or creative accessories.
  • Team-wear or sport print jobs where raised logos or emboss finish distinguish the garment.
  • Boutique runs or limited editions where premium finish commands higher pricing.
  • Workshops or demo studios teaching special-effect screen-printing techniques.
  • Mixed media textile art where layered texture, relief and print combine for visual depth.

  • Semi-opaque puff base that can be tinted or used alone to produce a raised 3-D effect when cured.
  • Heat-expansion step required: after printing/cure, use iron or heat gun to raise the print.
  • Available in sizes (250 gm, 1 kg, 5 kg) to suit sampling or production.
  • Recommended mesh ~110 T/in (~43T/cm) or slightly coarser to allow puff expansion without restriction.
  • Clean screens promptly to remove build-up; puff pastes are more viscous and deposit heavier loads.

  • Use correct mesh count to allow expansion—coarser mesh gives better puff growth.
  • After print and partial cure, apply heat as per manufacturer specification (iron/hair-dryer) to expand.
  • Print a test piece to dial pressure, ink deposit and puff expansion before larger run.
  • Over-printing heavy layers may restrict puff expansion—balance ink thickness carefully.
  • Clean screens before ink sets and build-up becomes hard to remove; puff pastes leave heavier residue.
  • Store unused base sealed and upright; ensure pigment tints are fully dispersed before use.
