Lac - Raw Powder dye

Lac Raw Powder is one of nature’s most beautiful red dyes, harvested from the resinous secretions of the Laccifer lacca insect. This raw, unprocessed form offers an authentic connection to traditional dyeing — producing shades that range from rich crimson and fuchsia to deep burgundy and violet. Each dye bath brings subtle variation, making every textile truly one of a kind. When used correctly, it delivers strong, lightfast colour and a soft sheen that feels both luxurious and organic. Perfect for artisans and professionals alike, Lac Raw Powder embodies the earthy, natural vibrancy of traditional colour craft while maintaining the reliability expected in modern studio dyeing.

Benefits

Lac Raw Powder is ideal for dyers who value depth and authenticity in colour. It’s versatile, expressive, and yields tones that can’t be replicated synthetically. Whether you’re creating elegant scarves, artisanal yarns, or richly coloured fabric panels, this dye adds soul and dimension. The raw format retains every nuance of the insect’s natural resin, allowing the full range of warm reds and cool purples to shine.

Perfect For:

  • Wool and silk fabrics, yarns, and scarves.
  • Natural dye workshops or slow fashion collections.
  • Over-dyeing with indigo for complex purples and plum tones.
