Cutch (Catechu) Extract

Cutch Extract (Catechu) is a rich, plant-based natural dye derived from the heartwood of the Acacia catechu tree. Known for its earthy range of warm browns, fawns, and olives, this extract offers incredible colourfastness and versatility. With its strong tannin base and smooth dyeing performance, Cutch is a favourite among both professional and studio dyers. Its natural warmth brings a timeless, organic feel to textiles — whether used alone or layered with other botanical colours for deeper dimension.

Benefits

Cutch offers one of the most reliable brown ranges in the natural dye world. Its earthy warmth complements almost any colour palette, making it an essential base tone for artisans and production dyers alike. The extract dissolves easily, giving you smooth, even results that stay true after washing and exposure. It’s sustainable, beautifully consistent, and pairs effortlessly with dyes like Madder, Indigo, or Myrobalan for endless natural variations.

Perfect For:

  • Wool and silk garments requiring soft tan to dark brown tones.
  • Sustainable cotton or linen collections with a rustic finish.
  • Layering or shading work in eco-print and botanical dye projects.
