Jacquard Acid Dyes are renowned for their vibrant, uniform and wash-fast colour performance on protein fibres and nylon. These powdered dyes are designed for immersion dyeing in hot water; they "exhaust" well (meaning most of the dye goes into the fibre) and resist bleeding or fading with washing. Despite the “acid dye” label, the only acid needed is a household acid like white vinegar or citric acid.

  • Highly concentrated powder formula providing level, uniform colour across silk, wool, nylon and other protein-based fibres.
  • Can be used for immersion dyeing or direct application (painting/printing) followed by steam setting where needed.
  • Available in many colours and sizes (e.g., 14 g jars) with colour-mixing opportunities.
  • Exceptional wash- and light-fastness when properly applied and fixed.

  1. Confirm fibre type is suitable (silk, wool, nylon or similar protein fibre). Avoid using on cotton/linen unless a protein fibre component is present.
  2. Pre-wash fabric/yarn to remove sizing or finishes.
  3. Measure dye quantity according to fabric weight and desired depth of colour (manufacturer guidance recommended).
  4. Use hot water bath and add vinegar or citric acid to activate fixation. For painting/printing, use a thickener or ensure steam-setting as per instructions.
  5. Rinse until water runs clear then wash with mild detergent. Avoid harsh agitation on wool to prevent felting.
  6. Store leftover jars sealed and away from direct sunlight and moisture.

Online orders are sent using Australia Post during business hours Monday to Friday. Orders are usually sent 1-2 days after your order is placed or when a pre-ordered item arrives. We email shipping confirmation with tracking information when your order is dispatched.

Shipping is calculated at checkout according to the weight of the order, and your address location.

Most orders will have the option of:

  • Australia Post Standard Shipping (estimated delivery in 3-5 days)
  • Australia Post Express Shipping (estimated delivery in 2-3 days)

We currently ship outside Australia to many countries using Australia Post’s International Express service. Rates will be automatically calculated at checkout.

Click & Collect : Thomastown

When ordering online you can choose 'Click & Collect' for order collection at our premises at 2/99 Heyington Ave, Thomastown, Victoria. We will email you confirming when your order is ready to collect.

Orders can be collected 10am 4pm Monday to Friday and we would appreciate it if you could collect your order within a week.
