Drimarene K Dyes – Cold-to-Warm Reactive Dyes for Cellulose Fabrics & Printing

Drimarene K Dyes offer a versatile range of reactive dyes designed to perform in cold to warm water (30-50 °C) settings, delivering stable, vibrant colours for dye baths, printing and hand-painting applications. These dyes exhibit strong tinctorial strength and reliable fastness properties, making them suitable for uses on cotton, linen, jute, viscose and similar cellulose-based fibres.

Benefits

  • Ideal for makers who want a reliable reactive dye system with flexibility in temperature and application technique.

  • Supports a range of creative methods — from immersion dyeing to printing and hand-painting — giving broader use than dyes that are only for one method.

  • The cold-to-warm working range reduces energy cost and equipment demands, making it accessible for smaller studios or home craft use.

  • The reputation and specification details ensure confidence in result repeatability and colour fastness.

Perfect For:

  • Immersion dyeing of cotton, linen, viscose or blended fabrics for garments, home textiles, or craft projects.

  • Printing or hand-painting on fabric using Drimarene K powders — ideal for surface-design, textural work or artisan textiles.

  • Studio or workshop settings where versatility and control over temperature are valued.

  • Small batch production or prototyping where you want high-quality reactive results without industrial heating setups

  • Suitable for dye-baths, surface printing and hand-painting on natural (cellulose) substrates.
  • Cold-to-warm activation (around 30-50 °C) means less energy required compared to hot reactive systems.
  • Offers good fastness (wash and light) due to the reactive bond formed between dye and fibre.
  • Size options: 25 g, 50 g, 100 g, 250 g, 500 g.
  • Typical process: dissolve dye in warm water, add salt (to promote uptake), immerse fabric, then add fixative (e.g., soda ash) for fixation, then rinse

  1. Ensure your substrate is predominantly cellulose (cotton, linen, jute, viscose); these dyes are specifically designed for such fibres.
  2. Pre-wash fabric to remove finishes, sizing or starch — this ensures even dye uptake.
  3. Dissolve dye powder completely in warm water to avoid lumps.
  4. Prepare a salt solution to promote adsorption of dye onto the fibre — commonly around 50 g per litre (or follow manufacturer’s specific ratio).
  5. After initial dyeing period, add soda ash (or other recommended alkaline fixative) to raise pH and fix the dye chemically to the fibre — e.g., 10-15 g per litre.
  6. Stir fabric regularly during dyeing to promote even distribution.
  7. Post-dye, remove fabric, squeeze out excess dye bath, then rinse thoroughly and wash off unbound dye to enhance fastness.
  8. Store remaining dye powder sealed, dry and cool to maintain effectiveness.
