A beautiful quality silk-rayon velvet with a rich, plush handle and elegant drape. This luxurious fabric features an 82% viscose rayon pile with an 18% silk backing, combining the lustre and absorbency of rayon with the strength and structure of silk. Woven with a dense, soft pile and smooth silk base, it is 140cm wide and 40 momme (approx. 180gsm) in weight.

Presented in its undyed natural white state, this velvet is ideal for dyeing, eco-printing, textile surface design, and devoré (burnout) techniques. The high rayon content makes it particularly well suited for devoré, where selective fibre removal reveals stunning semi-sheer patterns and textures.

It dyes beautifully with acid dyes or fibre-reactive dyes (on the rayon pile), producing rich, saturated colour. Also popular for eco and botanical printing due to the contrast between the pile and backing.

This velvet is perfect for scarves, wraps, theatrical garments, accessories, home décor accents like cushions or throws, and textile artworks where sheen, depth, and texture are essential.

Care Instructions:
Hand wash gently in cool water using a pH-neutral detergent. Avoid wringing. Lay flat or hang to dry out of direct sunlight. Use a velvet board or steam from the reverse to maintain pile texture. Handle carefully during devoré processing.
